The original HESA Shahed 136 or Geran-2 is an Iranian kamikaze drone/suicide drone/loitering munition. It gained some notoriety as being used by Russia in the war against Ukraine and used by Iran in strikes against Israel. Furthermore is the Shahed 136 operated by the Iranian backed Jemenite Houthis. Probably in 2023 Belarus entered in the Shahed’s licence production. When the drone‘s first flight took place is unknown. First reports of it’s existence appeared in 2021. The delta wing drone has a wingspan of 2.5 m / 8.2 ft and a length of 3.5 m / 11 ft. It weighs around 200 kg / 440 lb of which 30-50 kg/70-110 lb pertain to it‘s warhead. Range is estimated as being up to 2500 km/1600 miles. The Shahed 136 is launched slightly upwards assisted by a jettisonable rocket. Powerplant consists of one four cylinder two stroke MADO MD-550 piston engine developing 50 hp. The MD-550 is an Iranian copy of the German Limbach 550E.

Building the balsa sheet chuck glider model Shahed 136.
Materials:
All parts B 1; ballast: small piece of lead or scrap metal.
Assembly:
Cut out fuselage and fin balsa parts (photo). Make slots for wing and stiffeners (photo). Sand well.
Wing:
Place the three necessary wing balsa sheets one next to the other on your building board after having underlayed joining areas on underside with adhesive tape. Cement well using needles to fix these parts in their position. When dry cut according to outlines given on plan. Note grain direction. Cement right and left elevons at given angle. Remove adhesive tape. Wing is now one part.
Fuselage:
Fix fuselage with needles on building board and cement one nose stiffener in place. Let dry. Repeat procedure on the other side. Put fuselage on a so called „third hand“ (photo) and cement wing into slot. Remember to visual-check from all sides as obtaining symmetry should be your main aim at this step.
Fins:
Cement small balsa strips to fin under-in-sides as shown on photo. Let dry.
Final Assembly:
Set fins on wing and cement using needles to hold in place. Again visual-check from all sides to obtain best possible symmetry. Let dry.
Balance model in accordance to given CG on plan.
